With over thirty convenient locations throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Florida, Rocky’s is noted for its customer service and product selection. The family run business goes back to days when the neighborhood hardware store was literally just around the corner.

Rocky’s was founded in 1926 by Rocco (Rocky) J. Falcone, a mom & pop operation located at the corner of Main and Union Street in downtown Springfield, MA. In 1966, Rocco, Sr. was succeeded by his son James. During the 1970’s and 1980’s James developed the single store operation into a successful seven-store chain.

James led his family’s business into a national affiliation with the ACE Co-op. This offered Rocky’s Hardware the buying power of a national chain, national advertising, and the computerization of accounting and inventory procedures while still maintaining its identity.

Today, James Falcone is chairman, with day-to-day operations handled by his son, Rocco II, the third generation as president. Under Rocco II’s leadership, the chain has returned to its roots by expanding their hardware product lines. Rocky’s Hardware has revised its marketing strategies by going back to basics, focusing on stockselection and expansion of core hardware items.

We believe that Rocco, Sr. would be proud of where his business has gone from selling hardware on the corner of Main and Union Streets to being one of the dominant hardware retailers in the Eastern region.
