Shipments of Roof Rakes Arrive at New England Rocky's Stores
Shipments of roof rakes are coming into the Greater Springfield Area. Hundreds of them arrived at Rocky's Ace hardware stores Wednesday morning. For weeks, snow rakes have been almost impossible to get in Western Massachusetts, but because roofs are more ice than snow, people may have to chip away some of the ice.
Since the rakes being sold at Rocky’s are made of aluminum and not plastic, there is a right way and a wrong way to use them. “If you slam it down on your roof at an angle, you could pop your shingles, now your shingles are pretty fragile,” Steve Poulin, manager of the Rocky’s in East Longmeadow said.
