Now in its nineteenth year, the ACCGS award honors the fastest-growing, privately-held companies in the region for their significant contributions to the strength of the regional economy. Companies eligible for the award must be independent, privately-owned businesses, be based in either Hampden or Hampshire counties or be a member of the ACCGS, be in business for at least three full years and produce revenues of at least $1 million in the last fiscal year.
On October 24, 2008, Rocky’s Ace Hardware was presented with the Total Revenue Award for the third consecutive year in a row (ninth time since 1998). With 34 convenient locations throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Florida, Rocky's Ace Hardware, Inc. is noted for its customer service and product selection. Headquartered in Springfield, Rocky’s was founded in 1926 by Rocco J. Falcone at the corner of Main and Union Streets in downtown Springfield. In recent years, third generation-run Rocky’s Hardware has expanded its hardware product lines and has revised its marketing strategies by focusing on stock selection and expansion of core hardware items.
This year’s revenue winners combined for close to $1 billion in the past fiscal year (2007) with average revenue for all participants exceeding $19 million and over $32 million for the top 30. Seven companies also qualified for the Growth category. 64% of the top 30 company’s revenue exceeded $20 million and 40% exceeded $30 million.
